Looking At the Night Sky

Published by emmanuelledrifting at 10:38 am under Life, Travel Edit This

I woke in the middle of the night and climbed up the companion way to the cockpit, it was a perfectly clear night, I looked up at the mast and followed it up to the top, there, far above me was Virgo the virgin lady, I followed her body till I got to her head and there was Leo the Lion. I looked back down to the deck of the little sailboat I call home and smiled to myself as I thought how much has been accomplished in such a short amount of time, even with the thought of having to lower the mast to put on the new halyards and mast light before I can sail, and the little fine tuning that still needs to be done before getting in the water, I realized as much as I’ve had to do to prepare Emmanuelle to set sail there isn’t much left to do. The adventure begins soon.

I thought back to the last I saw the sky so clear, it was last fall, I was driving the car, the top was down as I passed the airport and out of the corner of my eye I saw a flash of light, a meteor shower, I pulled over and got out, walked up the levy and had a seat by the Miami river and laid down on my back and just watched the sky, and the amazing light show.

I climbed out of the boat and had a smoke (for fear of fire I don’t smoke aboard) I climbed back in and despite the cold night, I grabbed my pillow and blanket, climbed on deck and laid down staring at the sky, picking out as many constellations as I could remember, and fell back asleep to the sound of the tide moving back in,      it was a peaceful night in paradise……..
